Heather Walker loves peoples' stories. She relaxes and engages people in the films that she produces. The Bayside Polio Group asked Heather to produce a short film to communicate polio, peer support and hope. The people that she interviewed were anxious about talking about painful memories from their lives. Heather sought out each of their concerns, addressed them in a partnership of sharing to produce a film of joy and inspiration to all who view it.

Our film heroes enjoyed relaying their stories with Heather and are enthusiastic about sharing our film ‘All Walks of Life’ with not only their friends but also the wider community via the internet. To create such a valuable instrument of change that will not easily date is a challenge for all good film makers.

Heather’s editing of a day’s filming to 15 minutes of intelligent viewing is a testament to her film making skills. Heather was not faulted by our polio softened voices or by our stalling of speech. Heather created a film that told our story with dignity, quality and inclusiveness.

I worked with Heather Walker for many years in the film and television industry and always had the highest respect for her professionalism, attention to detail, commitment and dedication to every project she worked on, big or small.

Our paths diverged and many years later, having started my own Chinese Martial Arts business, I found myself in need of a video production company that could produce ½ hour instructional videos. Our business engaged Heather Walker of Individual Films to produce a walkthrough for our recently completed Custom Design Homes. We have a lot of enquiry from clients that may be overseas, interstate or living in inner city Melbourne, it was a great way to showcase our houses and also give prospective clients the opportunity to see our houses and view the quality of the homes we construct. It has added another level of service that we can now offer our clients. The quality of the walkthrough video’s is fantastic and Heather has the ability to enhance and capture the features of the homes we are building.

My name is Ritchie as per the details below and I am writing this letter on behalf of Heather Walker C/O Individual Films.

Apart from the details of my company below, I am also a 5th Dan Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate and the Chief Instructor of Australian Kyokushin Karate Geelong which is part of an international organization including Japan.

Heather trained with us in Karate for quite some time however it appears her work/ company business increased to a level where she had to cease training.

During 2013, I spoke to Heather about the possibility of producing some type of video “promo” for Kyokushin Karate that we could use via all forms of social media. Heather took this challenge immediately and she then travelled to attend a number of different events where she filmed many people during training.

Kyokushin Karate is a traditional Japanese art and is one of the forms of Karate in the world where tournaments are conducted with full contact but no padding, so, the training can be extremely demanding. With that in mind wishing Heather to produce the “promo” I asked if it were possible to cover all aspects EG; To incorporate into the promo sometimes female, sometimes male and sometimes children. Also, sometimes all together. Sometimes difficult training, sometimes a bit more light hearted, this to be to present to anyone who was to see that Kyokushin Karate can in actual fact be “something for everyone”.

Heather’s constant attendance and dedication, her ability to foresee what was required and her final production could only be described as sensational. The You Tube production can be seen via the following link.
